Media Contribution:  Earning recognition from presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush Collins was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2004

Collins Solutions

  • The Socratic Method is a dialogue between teacher and students, instigated by the continual probing questions of the teacher, in a concerted effort to explore the underlying beliefs that shape the students views and opinions.
  • She emphasized that achievement and excellence in life require self-esteem, independent thinking, and self-interest. As she put it, “Trust yourself. Think for yourself. Act for yourself. Be yourself. Imitation is suicide.”2

This Hour of Power is to create the voice and invision the challanges and strategies to support solutions 

ECE providers are struggling through as our industry addresses equity in classrooms for Black and Brown children. 

This opportunity will provide participants the an opportunity to be self-reflective as we :

  • Define the core values in early care
  • Identify the problems that perpetuate stigmas, sterotypes and discriminatory practices among young children in Early Care learning environment
  • Explore solutions to ensure the promotion of safe and healthy environments African American Children can thrive in
  • Create SEL goals for staff and children that are culturally competent and void of bias and exploitation
